Easter Fun

We had a wonderful Easter spending lots of time with family. We celebrated with my family Sunday afternoon and then went to Greenville to visit Luke's family on Monday and Tuesday. Some of Luke's family got to meet Samuel for the first time and that was a lot of fun! It was wonderful to introduce him to three Great Grandmas and one Great Grandpa! What a lucky little boy.

Here is proof that Samuel smiles! His whole face lights up when he smiles and it just brings so much joy to my heart! How I love this little man.

Yes...he is wearing a bonnet. This bonnet and sweater was given to us by a friend of the family and it is just so sweet and I couldn't resist dressing him up in it for Easter. The bonnet was a bit big so he only wore that for pictures but kept the sweater on for church. Here is another picture without the sweater so you can see his sweet little "golf" outfit I put him in. Isn't he adorable? Check Flickr for more pictures.

Tired Boys

It has been a long week for us. Easter is such a busy time at the church which means that Luke puts in tons of hours and we don't get to see much of him. Tomorrow is Easter and Samuel's first holiday...we have his little outfit and Easter basket all ready. I am sure he won't remember this Easter but Luke and I look forward to celebrating Jesus' resurrection for many years with Samuel. Now that I have a son, I just can't even begin to comprehend God sending his son to the cross for me and my sins...what a powerful love He has for me...for you. I hope that you all enjoy a wonderful Easter with your families and friends and are reminded of how much God loves you!

Samuel Smiles

Well not in this picture obviously!

So I don't have proof but Samuel smiled at his Mommy for the first time yesterday, twice! He was in such a pleasant mood and I was talking to him and he just smiled, this beautiful, perfect smile. I was so excited I thought I was going to burst. Of course my mom thinks he smiled at her for the first time a few weeks ago, but I am sure it was just gas! :) Everyone knows the Mom gets the first smile! Just to show off, he even did it again when my friend Beth was here visiting yesterday evening! I have considered setting up my video camera on him 24 hours a day so that I can catch his next one...my camera hesitates too long before it takes a picture! So I promise a picture as soon as I can capture it! What a joy he is!

Also, I have found the secret to getting Samuel to nap and sleep 6 hours at night! What is it you ask?! Well it is not his nice crib, bassinet, pack-n-play, swing or bouncy chair...but his CAR SEAT! I have considered returning all the previously mentioned equipment to let my son spend his first year of life solely in his car seat! :) I have to tell you that it bothers me that this is where he sleeps, I feel like a bad mother letting him sleep there...but he obviously enjoys it so I got over it real quick! At some point in the next few weeks (months) he will have to learn to sleep somewhere else but for now everyone is enjoying this little gift of sleep that we are getting AND my arm is getting a break during the day! Anyone else have (had) a car seat sleeper?

Growing Boy

Yesterday Samuel went to the doctor for his one month check-up. He got a clean bill of health and we are happy to report that he now weighs 8 pounds! We knew he was bulking up a bit because his face is real nice and full. We are having so much fun with Samuel and are grateful everyday that God has entrusted this little one to us. He is a very good baby and only fusses when he is hungry or needs to poop! He is an easy baby to take out and about...Luke and I went to dinner at the Olive Garden on Saturday and he slept through the whole meal! What a treat for us! I am slowly getting into a routine at home and loving all of the time that Samuel and I get to spend together! He has captured his Mom's heart!

1 Month/Many Faces of Samuel

Our boy is 1 month old today...how time flies! Samuel is an expressive little boy...so many different faces and noises...he is always entertaining us. Even when he sleeps he makes lots of noises...it is hard to get used to in the middle of the night! In honor of our little man's one month birthday I took a bunch of pictures of him, trying to capture his funny faces. Enjoy!

Hanging Out

Just wanted to post some newer pictures of Samuel...he is such a cute baby, I could just watch him all day long. He actually has his eyes open in some of these pictures and he looks so grown up!
He looks so grown up in this picture...not sure if he looks like me or Luke. What do you think?

Sitting in his new bouncy/vibrating chair...it got old after 15 minutes or so.

Sleeping on Mom after nursing...love the mullet. A little hockey player perhaps?!

Sleeping...our boy loves his hands...they are always dong something cute. Actually I sleep with my hands near my face just like this!

Photo Shoot

So I realized that I don't have any decent pictures of me and Samuel. The ones of us in the hospital are scary because my face clearly says "I just pushed for 2.5 hours and am exhausted" and the ones of me with him at home, I am always in my nightgown! Today I had Luke take a few of us together...I am actually showered and even wearing lipstick (gasp!) in these pictures. I added some more pictures to Flickr too...you can see Samuel being entertained by his Baby Einstein mat!
