Whitewater

Saturday was such a beautiful day so we decided to take a trip to Ohiopyle. We originally planned to go biking but once we got there we decided to just walk around and show Sam all of the water. At one point he pointed at himself and said "bath". I thought that was so funny...he wasn't intimidated at all by the raging natural waterslide or the huge waterfall. Of course we also had to stop for some ice cream which was a huge hit with Sam. A perfect day!

He wanted to crawl around on the rocks.
A minute later his hand went in that nice mud puddle.

Natural waterslide. I went down this when I worked at camp. It was not as high that day!

Sam loves riding in the backpack. He is pointing at the falls.

Sharing rainbow sherbet with daddy.

Happy Easter

Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Alleluia!

We had a wonderful Easter spending time with family. Sam was really interested in his Easter basket this year (he was only a few months old last year). I tied a balloon (he is obessed with them) to his basket and hid it behind a chair. He spotted the balloon and that is how he found his basket. Because he really can't have candy, I had to improvise. I put cheerios in the plastic eggs (which he discovered and spilled everywhere) and then I bought him graham crackers instead of chocolate. He was excited about the books and of course began 'texting' as soon as he found his toy cell phone! Hope you had a great day celebrating our Savior's resurrection with family and friends.

Florida Friends

Our Florida friends stopped by for a few days on their way to visit family for Easter. When we visited them in October, their Jane was only a few months old. She is now 9 months, crawling everywhere and is so sweet and cute! It was great to catch up with them and watch the kiddos play together. Luke was working a lot (Holy week) so I did my best to entertain them with a trip to the Pittsburgh zoo. We hope to see each other this summer at their beach cottage in Maine!

1st Haircut

Before

I love Sam's hair. It is light and wispy and even starting to curl slightly at the end. However, it was getting a bit hard to manage...it was always all over the place and would never stay put. So finally last night I decided that I would give him his first haircut. I was really nervous because I don't know how to cut hair, not to mention that his hair is all different lengths (and he is squirmy toddler). We bribed him to sit still with applesauce and I gave him a conservative trim. I think it turned out pretty good for my first attempt. He is still as handsome as ever but I do believe he looks a bit older now. What do you think?

Playing Trucks

Sam just loves his trucks and loves to "drive" them all over the house. It is getting to be a challenge to keep Sam in a particular room these days. He is always in the kitchen getting into cabinets or climbing the stairs! We don't have a railing on the stairs so I have put a gate up between the dining and kitchen and then will just have to sit in front of the stairs! This mobile boy is wearing me out! Still not walking anymore than a few steps here or there but his vocabulary is expanding every day. I did not expect him to be such a talker! I really credit reading tons of books every day for teaching him a lot of words...especially animal names and their sounds.
