Levi - 1 Month

Levi John is one month old today yet it feels like he has been apart of our family for much longer. Here he is with his big brother Sam. Doesn't Sam look huge in this picture? Levi is a very pleasant baby. He is eating every two hours and giving me one 4 hour stretch of uninterrupted sleep each night. He is becoming more alert these days and has the most beautiful dark blue eyes and of course that full head of hair! He is such a joy to us!

1st Real Bath

Levi's belly button finally fell off and he was able to get his first real bath last week. He seems to really like his bath and stays pretty quiet. I forgot how difficult it can be to bathe a newborn...especially with a wobbly head and flailing arms and legs!

Silly Sam

Just so you know that Sam is still around and we are still paying attention to him! :)

3 weeks

Levi was three weeks old on Tuesday! The days are going quickly and I seem to be adjusting to two kids pretty well. The most difficult moments are when Sam is getting into something and I am stuck nursing Levi. He is nursing every two hours which feels like every 15 minutes to me! I think he is going to be a big boy. Levi also reached his first milestone this week...he rolled over from belly to back...twice! We were giving him tummy time and he was getting frustrated so he kept working those legs until he flipped himself over. What a surprise that was for us! Way to go Levi!

Pool

We spent Sunday afternoon with Luke's family at the big pool in Cranberry. They had a huge pool, splash area and sandbox that kept Sam really entertained. Levi just snoozed in the shade with his grandparents. It was nice to spend an afternoon outside enjoying the sun and water.

Levi John - 2 Weeks

Levi got a clean bill of health at his 2 week check-up today. I was shocked to see that he gained 1 whole pound in a week! He is a much bigger baby than Sam and is growing very quickly. He is going through the stage where he wants to be held by mom a lot, which I remember with Sam, but overall is a very pleasant baby! Today he weighed 8lbs. 12oz. and measured 21 inches long.
Here are the rest of his stats so I can remember down the road :)
Weight at birth: 8lbs.
Weight at discharge from hospital: 7lbs. 12oz.

Weight at 1 week doctor visit: 7lbs. 13oz.

Weight at 2 week doctor visit: 8lbs. 12oz.

Just for fun...here is Sam's two week picture and his stats. You can see a slight resemblance in these pictures...but for the most part I think they look really different.
Weight at birth: 6lbs. 3oz.
Weight at discharge from hospital: 5lbs. 11oz.

Weight at 1 week doctor visit: 5lbs. 13oz.

Weight at 2 week doctor visit: 6lbs. 7oz.

Out of the Mouth of....Sam!

Sam is a funny kid. I love to hear the things that he comes up with all on his own. Usually he has a favorite word or phrase and says them over and over for a week. Here are some of our favorites:

"That's not fair!" - he never used this correctly and we have no idea where he learned it
"I'm too tall!" - used in response to "Sam can you pick up your toys?", again not used correctly
"I'm so proud of you!" - this is his term of endearment, sometimes said it 100 times a day to us, other times said it about the park, car, etc.
"Sure" - uses instead of yes, he does use this one right and it makes him sound very grown up

His funniest moments lately are his interactions with Levi. He talks about them being best friends and all the things they are going to do together when Levi is bigger. I often hear him saying "What's wrong Levi?" and "Poor Levi" when Levi is crying. The other morning I was nursing Levi in our bedroom and Sam was just waking up in his bed. Through the monitor I hear him chanting "Come on Levi you can do it!" I guess he was encouraging him to be a good nurser?! The best interaction happened the other day. Levi was in his swing and he was crying pretty loud. Sam was standing over him and yelled, pretty much in Levi's face, "WHAT'S THE MATTER?!" It gave us a good laugh...if only I could have captured that on video! Other than that brief moment, Sam has been a kind and gentle big brother and we are adjusting well to a family of four.

Levi John - 1 Week

Levi is one week old today! We are so in love with this little boy and he is just a perfect addition to our family. Even Sam thinks he is pretty great, already talking about them being best friends. I can't wait to watch that develop over the years.

Levi - A Few Days Old

3 days old

We have had a great couple of days together as a family of four! We have had some visitors and are just enjoying learning more about our little Levi. He has been a great sleeper these past couple days and has only woken up two times to feed during the night. This has made for some very happy and well rested parents. As I write this both of the boys are sleeping and Luke and I are enjoying time together...and time to get stuff done around the house. I am so in love with all three of my boys!

Welcome Home Levi

After we both got a clean bill of health from our doctors, we were discharged Thursday morning and came home to start our life together as a family of four. Sam and my Dad were the welcoming committee and then I spent the next 15 minutes trying to make sure Sam didn't smother Levi with attention and kisses!
