Bumbo Seat and Memorial Day

Samuel is getting to be such a big boy. He loves to sit up and talk to his Mommy and he even laughs at me when I make noises at him. He is also hard to hold onto these days as he loves to kick his legs and flail his arms about. When he lays on his play mat, he kicks his feet so he scoots up the mat. Everyday he spends some time sitting in his bumbo seat and I am going to put together his exersaucer this week since I think he will love playing with all of those fun toys in a standing/sitting position. I can't believe how quickly he is growing.

Today, I got to spend some time out in the yard planting flowers as Luke watched Samuel for me. It was so nice to spend some time outside and get my hands dirty planting. I really love flowers but this year I wasn't sure how I was going to get any of it done with Samuel to care for. Thankfully my father-in-law came down to help me and we got so much done, what a help he was! The flower beds look wonderful and it should be a little more low maintenance for me for years to come. Now all we need is a baby pool and we're ready for summer!

Just another day

Sometimes Samuel is cranky. This past week he has been having a few of those cranky moments quite often (I tell myself it is a growth spurt). Lately he has required a lot of my attention as he is becoming more aware of his surroundings and is sleeping less during the day (thankfully he sleeps a lot during the night). He sure does like to be entertained and is going through a phase of not liking his play mat which used to be his favorite activity. This has required some creativity on my part on how to entertain him! I have also realized the need to spend some time in prayer and the Bible everyday in order to equip myself with the patience to be the loving, attentive mom that he needs. I am thankful that God doesn't leave me to rely solely on myself during this new season of my life. His mercies are new every morning! Even though some days are hard, the smiles and laughs that Samuel gives me makes them all worthwhile. I am his whole world right now and I am cherishing every minute of it.

Our Water Baby

This is Samuel at 14.5 weeks. He has always loved taking a bath, but ever since we took him in the swimming pool he has realized how much fun water can really be. As you saw in the pool video, we encouraged his splashing and kicking his legs...little did I know he would carry this over to the bathtub! He is one funny little boy but I sure have my work cut out for me now as I try to bath this little mover and shaker.

Some firsts for Samuel

Samuel got to experience the beach for the first time. The weather was awful and the wind was blowing really hard which started to annoy him. At some point we just covered him with a blanket...so much for seeing the ocean!

Samuel got to experience a pool for the first time. We were lucky that our resort had a heated, indoor pool. Samuel was hesitant at first and then got the hang of it kicking and splashing his Mom and Dad!

Samuel got to experience riding the carousel for the first time. This is a small one on the Rehoboth boardwalk. It was hard to tell what he thought of it...no smiles but no crying either. I think he was fascinated by all of the lights.

Baseball and the Beach

Samuel...13 weeks

On the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, DE

The view of the storm from our window

The Galand/Rowse/Good families went to Bethany Beach, DE for a long weekend to watch Alex Rowse compete in a baseball tournament and to celebrate Mother's Day. We had a great weekend. Alex played great baseball and we had lots of time to enjoy the beach. The weather didn't quite cooperate though. It was cold, rainy and windy the whole time. Sunday night and Monday morning were the worst...it felt like a mini hurricane! In all of my 20+ years going to the beach, I have never seen waves that high or wind that strong! The next blog entry will be all about the firsts that Samuel experienced on vacation (too much to put all in one entry).

Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day at the beach with my family. Samuel and his Daddy made me the most wonderful gift...my boys are so sweet! Hope all of you mothers enjoyed your special day. There will be more posts about our mini vacation...we had such a great time!

I'll be back...

...blogging soon. We haven't been doing anything exciting lately so that is why there hasn't been a new blog entry. But good news...we are going away to the beach for a long weekend to watch my nephew play baseball and celebrate mother's day! So I will have a lot to say and lots of new pictures and videos when we get back. Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms out there!

Oh how I love this smiling boy!
