Sam - 5 years old

I can't believe that my first-born boy is 5 years old!  We are officially out of the toddler stage, and even out of the pre-schooler stage.  He will start K in the fall and will officially be an elementary student...crazy!  Here are some things that I want to remember about Sam at this age:
  • Sam loves his mom and is constantly telling her how much he loves her and how pretty she is (I am enjoying every single moment of this stage)
  • He is an amazing reader!  He also loves to read and spends quiet time and an hour before bed reading lots of books.  He started his first series book (Imagination Station) and read one of the books all by himself.  We love that he loves to read!
  • He has a great imagination and he has been playing pirates with his brother (like Jake and the Neverland Pirates)
  • Sam LOVES Levi.  He is a great big brother and they play so well together!
  • He is a bit nervous about starting school in the fall (doesn't want to miss mom)
  • Sam has a sweet tooth like his Dad and loves all candy
  • He is really interested in legos and loves to follow the directions to build something but also comes up with his own creations.
  • Sam is very independent...wakes up and gets dressed in the mornings without being told, puts away dishes, helps unload dishwasher, etc.  He could probably babysit Levi (not that we would ever let him of course)!

We love this boy and are just amazed by him everyday.  We can't wait to see what this next year holds for him.  Thankful to God for giving us this little man to raise and love!
