Swing So High

We have been to the park a lot lately since the weather has been so spring-like. Sam loves the swings and can even go down the slide by himself (with a parent at the top and bottom of course). Here are some of my favorite pictures of a recent outing.

Sam Sounds Off

Sam saying gurrl (aka girl)

Sam making truck (mmm) and boat (blub, blub) noises.
His attention span is short in this one so if you blink, you will miss it :)

Old Friends

Last Friday Sam and I had a playdate with some high school friends of mine and their kids. Ellen and I go back a lot of years...we were best friends in elementary school and most of my childhood memories include her. It was great to catch up with them and watch our kids play together. The three boys are close in age and if we all lived in the same town (Ellen and I might soon!) they would be in the same class. It was a great time and we can't wait to do it again soon!

Trouble with Dad

I love this picture of them...I think you can see the resemblance

Luke took Sam to the playground the other day and was teaching him to go up the steps to the slide...but I don't think he realized Sam would apply that to our house stairs! Thankfully he can't figure out how to get past the first step yet. Sam is like a sponge these days and is really starting to say more words...it is so exciting! My favorite word he says is "girl". There is a little girl at the end of his favorite book and he puts his lips in the shape of an 'o' and it sounds like "gurrl". Adorable! Luke also taught him to make different vehicle noises....boat, plane and truck. I am going to attempt to get this all on video so you can share in the fun.

1yr old at the zoo

We first went to the zoo when Sam was only a few months old and he had no idea what was going on. This time it was a completely different experience. Sam was really interested in all of the animals and all of the kids that were there. We heard the lion roar, got up close to the big elephants, saw the gorillas play in the yard and watched the polar bear swim above us. I would say it was a great visit to the zoo!

Super close to a big elephant!

Calling All Moms

Sam doesn't like milk. After 12 months of breast milk (which is sweeter and the perfect temp) I understand that it probably doesn't taste as good but he needs to get used to drinking regular milk. In the meantime we are loading him up on calcium through yogurt, cheese and cottage cheese. Any of you moms out there have suggestions on how to get him used to it?

First Steps

Today my baby boy took his first steps. We didn't see it coming and just like it was no big deal he stood up and then took a few steps towards his mama and then again to his dada. It was a joyous moment. Way to go Sam, way to go!
