Handmade Present

I saw an article in a Family Fun magazine about felt food and decided I had to try and make it. I enlarged the pattern so that they weren't so small and went to work. They were really easy to make and I had a lot of fun doing it. Now they are all wrapped and waiting for Levi to open Christmas morning! Here is the link if you are interested in giving it a try:

Christmas Train

Sam loves trains so I thought it would be fun to start a new tradition of building a gingerbread train for Christmas. It looked SO cute on the box but I have to say they are really setting up people (mostly parents) for a big let down. There is no way (with the materials given...especially the icing) that I could make it even sorta resemble the picture on the box. Luke had to keep reminding me that wasn't the point...Sam was having a blast and thought it was the best thing ever and there I was acting like the Grinch because my icing was dripping everywhere. Finally, I gave up and just had fun with it. I think this is a new tradition in the Good house!

O Christmas Tree

We had the best intentions this year on continuing the "cut your own" Christmas tree tradition. We went to a local tree farm in sub zero temps, took the wagon into the fields and walked around aimlessly trying to find a tree. There were literally three (pathetic) Douglas Fir trees left. We gave up and decided to drive an additional 15 minutes away from home to another tree farm. Levi slept in the car with Luke while Sam and I decided to just pick a tree from the pre-cut area. I found a worker and he held up tree and after tree for me until I found one that I liked. Lots of money later (sigh) we had the perfect tree...but not the perfect tree finding adventure. Oh well, there is always next year! Sam is watching the train, Levi is watching me...normal day at our house!
