Easter 2011

Preparing for Easter

This year, in spite of the torrential rain, we made it to the Bunny Hop in town. Thanks to my parents and many umbrellas Sam got to visit most of the businesses and get some Easter candy. I also got lucky and won a raffle basket full of gift certificates to places in town. I was like a kid at Christmas! Sam didn't even blink when the girl put him on the Easter Bunny's lap to get his picture taken. I was wearing Levi in the moby wrap and I now regret not putting him in the picture too! I think this is the cutest picture of Sam!

Sam did a much better job at coloring the eggs this year...he put them in the cups and took them out with just a bit of help from Dad. We also made resurrection cookies the night before Easter to remind us of why we celebrate Easter. Thank you Jesus for the cross!

First Planting

Yesterday in the 50 degree weather (brrr) we spent some time working on the garden. My Dad cleared away the last of the weeds, Sam threw dirt (sigh) and Luke made rows and paths and then planted carrots, onions and lettuce. We also put up a little fence to keep the animals out. The rest of the veggies are growing in our basement and will be planted after the last frost. Can't wait to see little seedlings start to come up!

Community Garden 2011

This year we are participating in our town's community garden. We have a pretty large plot and we are growing 13 things this year (green onions, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, green peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, cantaloupe, beans, snap peas and broccoli). There were sunflowers planted there previously that I hope will come back up and I am also planting four different kinds of flowers that I can cut and enjoy at home. We have had smaller gardens in the past...but nothing like this. I am hoping that it goes really well and we have enough fresh veggies to pass onto our friends and family. Here are the "before" pictures...covered in weeds!

Levi - 9 Months

Levi is 9 months old! He is very attached to mama these days and loves to give me kisses and blow "raspberries" on my cheek. Levi does not crawl but scoots all over the house on his bum and he has gotten very fast! He takes 1 morning nap and 1 afternoon nap but is still only sleeping through the night occasionally. He says dada all of the time and also yells and makes singing noises. Levi is a BIG eater (although his weight is dropping off so you wouldn't know it). He loves any kind of baby food, will eat rice when we eat Mexican and loves, loves puffs. He is also learning how to drink water from a cup. We are now going to start feeding him meat and giving him more soft finger foods to try. We just love our little blue-eyed boy!

Levi 9 Month Stats:
19 lbs, 12oz (Sam was 17 lbs, 15 oz)
27.5 inches

March 2011 Sewing Projects

These are my latest sewing projects. I have added the links to where I got the inspiration and the tutorial if you want to give it a try yourself :)

Plastic Bag Holder

I tweaked the plastic bag holder directions a bit to make it smaller and I used fabric instead of a ribbon. As you can see Make it and Love it blog is one of my favorite's...she has great tutorials!
