Our Water Baby

This is Samuel at 14.5 weeks. He has always loved taking a bath, but ever since we took him in the swimming pool he has realized how much fun water can really be. As you saw in the pool video, we encouraged his splashing and kicking his legs...little did I know he would carry this over to the bathtub! He is one funny little boy but I sure have my work cut out for me now as I try to bath this little mover and shaker.

Some firsts for Samuel

Samuel got to experience the beach for the first time. The weather was awful and the wind was blowing really hard which started to annoy him. At some point we just covered him with a blanket...so much for seeing the ocean!

Samuel got to experience a pool for the first time. We were lucky that our resort had a heated, indoor pool. Samuel was hesitant at first and then got the hang of it kicking and splashing his Mom and Dad!

Samuel got to experience riding the carousel for the first time. This is a small one on the Rehoboth boardwalk. It was hard to tell what he thought of it...no smiles but no crying either. I think he was fascinated by all of the lights.

Baseball and the Beach

Samuel...13 weeks

On the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, DE

The view of the storm from our window

The Galand/Rowse/Good families went to Bethany Beach, DE for a long weekend to watch Alex Rowse compete in a baseball tournament and to celebrate Mother's Day. We had a great weekend. Alex played great baseball and we had lots of time to enjoy the beach. The weather didn't quite cooperate though. It was cold, rainy and windy the whole time. Sunday night and Monday morning were the worst...it felt like a mini hurricane! In all of my 20+ years going to the beach, I have never seen waves that high or wind that strong! The next blog entry will be all about the firsts that Samuel experienced on vacation (too much to put all in one entry).

Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day at the beach with my family. Samuel and his Daddy made me the most wonderful gift...my boys are so sweet! Hope all of you mothers enjoyed your special day. There will be more posts about our mini vacation...we had such a great time!

I'll be back...

...blogging soon. We haven't been doing anything exciting lately so that is why there hasn't been a new blog entry. But good news...we are going away to the beach for a long weekend to watch my nephew play baseball and celebrate mother's day! So I will have a lot to say and lots of new pictures and videos when we get back. Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms out there!

Oh how I love this smiling boy!

You've Got a Friend

My friend and I had another play-date last week and this time the two babies actually interacted. We laughed hysterically as we sat the two on the couch together and took some pictures...we can only imagine what they were thinking. Then they were on the floor for almost 30 minutes playing with toys and looking at each other. Samuel was fascinated by Abby and just stared at her and gave her lots of smiles. It is so nice for me to have someone to talk to who can relate to what is going on in my life as a new mom. Janice and Abby will be moving to Texas soon and we will miss them a lot, but we have these pictures to remember them by and I will tell Samuel someday all about his first friend.

This is when we started laughing, we couldn't get Abby to stay sitting up!

Samuel loves to grab things with his right hand, Abby was his victim this time!

Crib Sleeper

Samuel sleeping on his Daddy

It has been recommended to us that we start putting Samuel to sleep in his crib once he is 3 months old. We decided to start a few days before that because he was clearly outgrowing his bassinet. I would get up to nurse him in the middle of the night to find him almost sideways with his head pushed into the side of the bassinet. He didn't seem to mind but it sure made me nervous. Saturday night was our first attempt and it went okay...he got up more than usual though and we had to put him back in his bassinet because he was not falling back asleep in his crib. We persevered though and put him in his crib last night and he did so well. He only woke up once to nurse and then slept there until about 7 or so when he was up for the morning. He looks so cute and small in his crib and when I went to pick him up this morning, he smiled at me. We are so proud of our big boy and hope he continues to like sleeping in his crib. I will try to take a picture of him in there soon.
